General Music (Ages 5-7)

Description:
General Music is a lively and engaging class that combines singing, dancing, and musical games to develop fluency in music. Using the Kodaly method of teaching, students will naturally and comfortably explore their musical voices and ears while learning foundational music theory through interactive songs. In addition to folk songs, many of the songs feature Scripture or Christian spiritual themes. Students will learn the basics of music, including sight reading, theory, and rhythm, using the beginner percussion instruments and bells. This class is designed to prepare students for deeper appreciation and understanding of music. There will be limited spots available to ensure individual attention to each student and excellence in music.
STOMP (Ages 8-12)

This energetic and engaging class introduces young students to basic percussion concepts through hands-on exploration. Students will create rhythms using various surfaces and incorporate movement such as jumping, stomping, and clapping. Designed to develop an innate rhythmic sense, this class builds a strong foundation for future musical pursuits in both instrumental and vocal settings. Get ready for a class that’s LOUD, FUN, and full of rhythm!
Primary Band (Ages 7-10)

This class is designed to give students an opportunity to explore various band instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, and brass instruments. Using Nuvo instruments provided in class, you’ll discover the joy of making music in a whole new way. Students will have an opportunity to try their hand at playing each instrument until they find one that is a match for them! Once we’ve found their perfect match, we delve into the basics of playing your chosen instrument bringing melodies to life! By the end of our journey together, students will be ready for a seamless transition onto a formal band instrument.
Beginning Band (Ages 10-12)

Beginning Band is designed for students with at least one year of experience on a band instrument including, flute, clarinet, saxophone, brass instruments, and percussion. In this structured rehearsal environment, students will develop their skills through beginning- to intermediate-level foundational exercises and performance pieces. This course includes outside assignments, required recitals, and daily practice expectations. This class covers essential fundamentals, including beginning music theory, note reading, rhythm study, and proper instrument handling.
Violin Choir (Ages 7-10)

Cello Choir (Ages 7-10)

Description:
The violin or cello choirs are for students who are interested in beginning with a string instrument. Students should have some instrument experience such as piano or General Music but it is not mandatory. Teachers use the Suzuki method in combination with additional curriculum to build a foundation in music theory.
Benchmarks will be set periodically through the year. Students will be expected to practice their instruments at home for the minimum set forth by the instructor to meet them. There will be small in class recitals to celebrate their hard work!
String Choir (Ages 10-12)

String Choir is designed for students with at least one year of experience on a string instrument. String Choir is a small ensemble of string instruments and is a structured rehearsal environment, students will develop their skills through beginning- to intermediate-level foundational exercises and performance pieces. This course includes outside assignments, a required recital, and daily practice expectations. Using a combination of Suzuki and traditional methods, this class reinforces essential fundamentals, including music theory, note reading, rhythm study, and proper instrument handling. This class does not replace private lessons. Students are required to take weekly violin, viola, or cello lessons with a private instructor.
